Subject: FS Navigator with FS2k - potential problem Date: Sat, 23 Oct 1999 20:09:36 -0500 From: "M Davis" Newsgroups: simflight.fs2000 Mine is working fine but the procedure has a glitch if you are Win98 challenged. This is from a post by Trip Lane with my comments added: 1) Install or update FS Nav to version 2.3 running under FS98 2) Gather all your scenery files together and create your FSNavDBC (database) using the DBC program in FSNav, making sure all the stuff you want is in there. This will be the data that you will have, NOT the FS2K data. 3) Make sure FSNav is working in FS98 as a double check. 4) Open Windows Explorer and do a drag and drop COPY from the ..../Flight Simulator/Flight Simulator/Modules folder (the default if you haven't changed it) using the right mouse button...the whole folder, into the ..../FS2000/Modules folder. 5) Copy the one file FSNav.isu to the ....FS2000/Modules folder. 6) Then, in my listing, the FSNav.dll file did NOT show up in the listing in Windows Explorer. If it does show up, copy it also with 5) above. If not, go to the top menu "Tools" then "Find">"files and folders" and search the .../Flight Simulator/ Modules folder for FSNav.dll and COPY that from the search window listing to the ..../FS2000/Modules folder. For some reason, this must be a "hidden" file on my system. It must be there for FSNav to work with the F9 key as in FS98. I have not tried (nor do I use) the autopilot hookup with the flight planner, but the moving map works nicely as in FS98 and all navaids show up as well. Now if we can just get the FS2K database in there....... -- Mike Davis AirWest VA DFW Hub Captain mailto:mdavis@janics.com ICQ#38952146
